Getting Started
The tally light is a small LED on the front of Avonic PTZ cameras, used to indicate active status during production. Depending on the camera model, this function may require a license or is built-in by default. To avoid installation issues, follow these steps:
- Verify if your camera model requires the LC70-1 license (mandatory for CM70-series, not needed for CM93).
- If using CM70-NDI, enable the tally light in the camera’s NDI settings.
- Use VISCA commands (IP or serial) to control the tally light, as it cannot be managed through the WebGUI or OSD.
- Ensure the video switcher is configured to manage the tally signal if used in broadcast setups.
Tally Light Overview
The tally light on the CM70-series (including NDI versions) is part of the optional LC70-1 license. This license also enables the Customizable Color Matrix (CCM) and SRT streaming. Without an active license, the LED on the front of the camera cannot be controlled.
On the CM93 4K cameras, tally light functionality is a standard feature and does not require a license.
Controlling the Tally Light
The tally light can only be controlled via VISCA commands (IP or serial) or via NDI (on CM93-NDI models). It is not possible to enable or disable the tally light from the camera’s WebGUI or OSD menu.
VISCA Commands
Below are the VISCA commands to control the tally light:
Command | Function | Command Packet | Comments |
---|---|---|---|
CAM_TallyLight (CM7x only with license active) | Red | 81 01 7E 01 0A 00 02 03 FF | Tally Light Red ON |

Usually, the tally light is controlled via the video switcher.
NDI Settings
If using a CM70-NDI, make sure to enable the tally light function by ticking the box “Tally Light Enable” in the camera’s NDI configuration panel.
