Presets in the Web GUI
Log into the camera web GUI by entering the camera's IP address (default: 192.168.5.163
for CM4x and CM7x series) into a web browser and entering the credentials (default username: admin
, password: admin
).
At the bottom right of the live preview, you will find the presets tools, highlighted within the red rectangle below:
Storing, Calling, and Clearing Presets
- Use the PTZ control menu (located above, featuring 8 arrows) to position the camera as desired. The focus can be set to automatic or manually adjusted.
- In the Presets number list, select the number corresponding to the preset where you wish to store the current camera position. It is recommended to reserve position 0 for the HOME position, which is the position the camera returns to after booting up.
- Click the Pencil icon (SET function) to store the preset.
* Pressing the Arrow icon (RUN function) will activate the selected preset from the list.
* Pressing the Bin icon (CLEAR function) will delete the selected preset from the list.
To practice, you can store multiple presets, navigate between them (including the HOME position), clear some presets, and set new ones as needed.
What Settings Are Stored in Avonic Camera Presets?
- Pan Position
- Tilt Position
- Zoom Position
- Autofocus or Manual Focus
When Manual Focus is chosen, the Focus Position is stored.
There are no exposure or image settings stored in presets; those are global settings.
Notes
- Only the PTZ positions and the auto/manual focus mode are stored in presets. Exposure or image settings are not saved.
- Regardless of the method selected (remote controller, web GUI, control software such as the Onvif Device Manager), the presets will remain consistent as they are stored within the camera itself. However, it is more reliable and recommended to store presets on the control solution side rather than in the camera.
*** If you are using the Onvif Device Manager software, you can also call the same presets, store new ones, or clear them. For a quick introduction to ODM, refer to the article "Using ONVIF Device Manager with Avonic IP Cameras":
How to Set PTZ Speed with Presets
Yes, it is possible to define how fast the camera moves between presets. Simply navigate to the System > P/T/Z menu and set the individual speeds for Pan, Tilt, and Zoom when recalling presets.
How to Set, Call, and Clear Presets with the IR Remote Control
To easily switch between different shots and save time, PTZ cameras support Presets, which are specific Pan/Tilt/Zoom positions. These presets can be stored and recalled using an IR remote controller, the camera web GUI, a controller, or a control system. You can store up to 255 presets (with 0.1° accuracy) within our cameras.
This section explains how to set a preset using the CM22 remote controller, where each preset is assigned to a specific number from 1 to 9 (preset 0 is reserved as the default preset/position after the camera boots up, which can be different from the default HOME preset).
- To set a preset, first point the camera in the desired direction and zoom position, adjusting the manual focus if required.
- Assign that position to a number by pressing the SET PRESET button, then the desired number.
- You can call that preset (or any other preset previously set to a number) by pressing its corresponding number on the remote controller.
Summary:
- To set a Preset: [PRESET] → []
- To call a Preset: []
To delete a preset, press the CLEAR PRESET button, then the number corresponding to that preset. Note that assigning another preset/position to that number will erase the previous preset.
Summary:
- To clear a Preset: [CLEAR PRESET] → []
- * Note that for presets numbered 10 and above, you will need another solution (web GUI, control software, IP or serial commands, etc.).
