Default IP Address and Access

By default, all Avonic PTZ cameras have a fixed IP address set to 192.168.5.163 with the username and password as admin. The current IP address is displayed on the SDI and HDMI outputs after the camera has successfully powered up.

Network Configuration

Through the OSD menu, you can activate DHCP mode or keep the IP static "as is". It is not possible to set a different IP address via the OSD; this can only be done through the Web GUI. The login page of the Web GUI looks like this:

Web GUI Login

When logged into the Web GUI, you can either set a fixed IP address or allow the camera to receive a DHCP address from a DHCP server (usually the router or gateway on the Local Area Network or LAN). These options are available in the Network tab of the Web GUI:

Accessing the Web GUI Without DHCP

If your camera is not set to DHCP or there is no router in the network, you will need to change your PC or Mac's local IP address to the same network as that of the Avonic camera to access the Web GUI. You can find instructions here for how to do this on a Windows PC and here for how to do this on a Macintosh computer.

If the camera is set to receive an IP address via DHCP and it boots up without receiving an IP address from the DHCP server, it will resort to a fallback IP address in the range 169.254.xxx.xxx. In this case, the IP address might not show correctly during the boot sequence, as the camera is still waiting for the DHCP server to provide an IP address. The correct way to find the self-appointed fallback address is to wait until the camera has fully booted up.

Use the included remote control and navigate the OSD via the HDMI or SDI output to view the current IP address:

Remember that each time the camera is rebooted, the fallback address can be different.

How to Enable DHCP

The default IP address of the CM4x and CM7x series is 192.168.5.163, but you can configure the camera to receive an IP address automatically from a DHCP server. To enable DHCP:

  • Access the camera's Web GUI.
  • Navigate to the Network tab > Ethernet.
  • Select the DHCP option.
  • Press the Save button.
  • Reboot the camera by going to System > Reboot.

Ethernet Settings

* Note that if DHCP is enabled and no DHCP server is available on the network, the camera will be available on its previously assigned IP address or a fallback IP address in the range 169.254.0.0 to 169.254.255.255. After the camera starts up, it is worth rechecking its IP address on the camera's HDMI/SDI outputs.

It is also possible to enable DHCP via the HTTP API. For more details, refer to the camera User manual > How to use HTTP API:

How to Set a Static IP Address

The CM4x, CM7x, & CM9x series come with a default static IP address of 192.168.5.163. However, you can configure a different IP address, subnet mask, and gateway through the camera's Web GUI:

  • Navigate to the Network tab > Ethernet.
  • Enter the desired IP address, subnet mask, and gateway.
  • Press the Save button.
  • Reboot the camera by going to System > Reboot.

* Note that setting the IP address cannot be done via the OSD (On-Screen Display).

It is also possible to set the IP configuration using the HTTP API. For more details, refer to the camera User manual > How to use HTTP API:
